This expanded menu on the left leads to the billions and billions
(well, ok, hundreds) of pictures Christian and I took on our trip to
Australia in June and July of 2002.
This set of pictures is more of a travel narrative; each story
page has a link to its pictures (if there are any)
and links to the next part of the
narration.
Anyway... We were ostensibly in Australia to present an exciting
paper
on GNUnet at
ACISP 2002 in Melbourne, but it also provided a nice excuse
to go somewhere cool. :)
The trip involved a lot of time on planes, and a lot of time in a
little blue car on roads the rental agent (and the frantic driver!)
would probably have been happier had we not driven on.
We spent the first few days driving around Victoria; Christian put up
admirably with the frantic driver's attempts to drive a stick-shift
for the first time in several years on the other side of the road.
I spent a lot of time freaking out, but we managed to see a lot of
cool stuff nonetheless! We drove to pretty beaches at sunrise, and
through plains and farms and forests and hills and mountains...
and all sorts of other stuff that looks a lot better than Indiana corn!
After that, we spent the next week in Melbourne and a couple of days
taking tours outside the city. We both came home with an extra special
gift from the Australian people (the flu), but aside from that, the
trip was pretty cool, and some of the pictures turned out really well.
(Ask Christian about his new photographic technique involving the
roofs of moving vehicles!)
