List of Photos:

We'd hoped to go to a forensics workshop the day after we got back, but they'd run out of room. Fortunately, it turned out that one of the Minions of GNUnet, Glenn McGrath, lives in Melbourne and was up for a meeting with us. We went to a cafe (where the coffee machine had been shut off, so we ended up with beer and coke) and sat outside, freezing and being geeky! :)

Christian and Glenn hashed out a lot of ideas, and it was a generally enjoyable time. Glenn was even kind enough to drop us off at the conference reception that evening! (Pictures of the GNUnet gang are included :)

The conference started the next day, and Christian presented the paper that afternoon. IMHO, it went well, even if it was the fastest paper presentation of all time! (20 minute timeslot, and Christian cruised through all of the material in about 12 :)

The next day was when Christian started to get the flu; after all the rain and cold and time on planes, it's little wonder one of us caught something, but he did try to kind of ignore it, and we went to see a movie about Antartica at the IMAX in the Melbourne Museum (which, incidentally, is the biggest movie screen in the world). It was a really cool movie, but by the end of it Christian was really not looking well and we went back so he could crash. (We got accosted on the way back by a cool drunk, and stopped by the Type Factory (picture below) to make sure that Christian still type-checked)).

The following day, Christian made it through about 30 minutes at the conference before he realized tea and tissues weren't going to get him through the day and he went home. I stayed for most of the rest of the conference, but it was winding down and I was tired, so I eventually went back to the hostel armed with tea and juice for the ill one.

With Christian sick, I spent the next day wandering around the city center in Melbourne, taking pictures of random cool buildings and generally being lazy. There's one building I took way too many pictures of (the metal and glass one with all of the holes in it), but it was really cool and had made an impression on us when going around the city.
