After an early breakfast (and copious amounts of sunscreen), we went outside
to an amazing sunrise, snow, and a clear blue sky. There were plenty
of clouds, but we were above them :) We rented skis, and Christian tried
to teach me how to fall down before my ski school lesson. (I fall down
just fine! I just can't get up again...) This... was not entirely
successful :) Christian went off to ski on the big hills, and I went off
to learn how to get down part of the little ones.
Christian is, by the way, an embarassingly good skier with little patience
for the loser skiers like me :) I ended up with a very bruised ego (mostly
because I had to take my skis off to get up every time I fell down), but
I DID manage to make it up and down most of the bunny hill ok!
Being completely fearless, Christian went up to the top and took a series
of fantastic pictures. With few exceptions, these are all his :) I should
have gotten a picture of him spraying the poor lady next to me with snow,
however... there's something very amusing about seeing a big guy with
a beard and a hat with earflaps speeding down the mountain and stopping
a meter short of you in a shower of snow :)
We skied until about 4 pm and decided to call it quits; I was tired, and
we wanted to get out of the hills before it was too dark for me to see well.
These (click here) are the pictures from the day at Mount Baw Baw.
